I'm increasingly believing that the so-called "tragedy of the commons" has very little to do with "widespread abuse of the commons out of ignorance", and is really just a proxy for "primarily centrists widely excusing away otherwise-manageable abuse of the commons by a select few"
And this belief is really only being further reinforced by how people are talking about "giving Meta a chance on the fediverse"

@joepie91 do you know about the history of the phrase? the paper that coined it is literally just straight eugenics shit, it's extremely weird stuff
