learn about counterinsurgency, please, but don't narrow your focus such that the histories you learn begin and end with what the FBI+CIA did there. learn about liberation movements in their own words, their own terms, their own unique contexts, their tactics and strategies and successes and failures. if you do not do this you WILL give yourself "everything is a psyop" brain

listen. the idea that the state and its military and intelligence agencies are everywhere and all-powerful and always a step ahead of you - that IS the propaganda. that IS the counterinsurgency.

@trash_witch To add to this: I had the unfortunate displeasure of having to deal with two FBI guys interrogating me (outside of the US, international cooperation thing), and uh...

... I don't think the 'witness' is supposed to end up learning more about the case than the FBI agents. These guys were hilariously incompetent, and easy to read.

They're not the universally genius puppet masters that some people seem to think.
