This is the same reason that a "can we set cookies" dialog is a red flag telling you that a site is trying to do sketchy shit - because asking that question isn't necessary for actually providing the service you *asked* for, but only for additional data gathering and such.

@joepie91 @alex @soatok Yup. Cookie dialogs are only needed if the cookies are going to be used for tracking. Strictly necessary cookies (ie, cookies that keep you logged in, session information, etc) are fully allowed

@dean @joepie91 @alex @soatok they aren't needed in any case, you just cannot set tracking cookies without consent and instead of not tracking companies choose to push it in the user's face in the hopes they click through it
