I hate how "arcade" has come to mean "children's gambling parlour"

@joepie91 I wonder if this is regional or age dependent. There’s quite a few places in/around Chicago where there is a cover to get in and that’s it. Game as much as you want until they close. No prizes or tickets in sight. When talking about these, everyone calls them arcades, or beercades when drinking is allowed.

There definitely still are the “entertainment centers” that fit that children’s gambling parlour description, where it’s ticket based games. Though I don’t think I remember hearing anyone ever calling it an arcade, but instead they are only ever referred to by their name.

Maybe it’s different if you are a parent taking the kids to those entertainment centers though.
