Even aside from LB, something else about eightpoint really doesn't sit well with me.

Specifically: everybody involved in running it seems to be far too familiar with fedi culture, discourse, conventions etc. for an instance that's this apparently new. They function like they're a well-established part of the fedi fabric, like the instance has been around for years.

Now I should say that I don't know much about the history of eightpoint or the people behind it (except LB that is), so it's very possible that I'm seeing ghosts here.

But I don't know, something about it just feels... off, to me. I can't quite put my finger on it.
