I see people talk about "Rust cultists," and often the specific example of a thing you can say to make you the epitome of an annoying Crustacean is to say that programming in other systems programming languages is kind of irresponsible at this point, and that it's silly to think that you can just trust your own wits and prowess to never produce insecure code. But given everything we are seeing, like with Android, I think that's a position that's absolutely warranted by the evidence.
@alexispurslane It's especially curious that the people making the "cultists" accusation are often the exact same people claiming that "it's irresponsible to program in a dynamically-typed language", even though *that* claim doesn't even have the evidence that there is for memory safety being important!
