One of the less obvious things I really appreciate about fedi: I see so many more cool personal *projects*, rather than just "startups" or "side gigs" or whatever other capitalist venture.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the bigger character limits, leaving space for people to actually present their projects *without* needing to capture it into some snazzy marketing slogan soundbite

@joepie91 I have been thinking about how Twitter's character limit makes it very... screenshottable.

Like, both literally for screenshots, but also for, like, embedding quotes in news articles, flashing it up screen in a news report, or even citing it in a headline.

I think a lot of Twitter's design relies on that. It's easier to feed people outrage and get them engaged if the pieces you do it with are bite-sized.
