@gabek what's gone wrong? when I installed it, the backend went fine, but the frontends were a pain (I ultimately gave up on masto-fe altogether)
@shadowfacts I have no idea. It'll be a success if I get to the point where I can deal with frontends. And I'm just trying to get a working docker image. This should be the easy way, but for some reason I have to create the image myself and compile the code inside of it? I don't understand the logic of this at all.
@shadowfacts The reason I never had to do any of this with Pleroma is I used a 3rd party Docker image that just worked. I don't have that luxury with Akkoma. It's like ordering a cake and getting a box with eggs, flour, butter and a list of instructions. Why not give me the cake I was looking for, what's with this DIY kit?

I 10000% feel this and agree with you, if anything I think your take doesn't go far enough ...

IMO the linux platform itself, the server itself, needs another layer to provide UI

Even if someone ships a binary, how many years of experience in linux sysadmin are they gonna need to make it so that the binary starts up again when they reboot the fcker ??

It's not like systemd has 1st party documentation or easy to use tooling or anything... Even IF we can get it to turn on, thats only half the battle... We really want to operationalize a program with a full lifecycle.... Wheres the UI for that ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

@gabek @shadowfacts

Answer is, right now its a fucking man page, which starts with, "how to read this manual"

And I think we, as a whole, have to do WAYYYYYY BETTER
