I'm always interested to learn which foods are native to the new world (e.g. tomatoes, potatoes) vs old world (e.g. onions, garlic). Apparently beans are split between the two:
Old world: Adzuki, Blackeye pea, Chickpea, Fava, Lentil, Mung, Soy
New world: Black, Cannellini, Great Northern, Kidney, Navy, Pinto
It's pleasing to me that the split seems roughly 50/50, at least for the beans I regularly eat.
