There's lots of reasons I keep my instance small intentionally

* Keeps moderation at a "doable" level
* No instance should ever be "too big to block"

But honestly, an understated upside is that it keeps me and my users mostly off the radars of bad people

Scholar is the little instance that people mostly forget
