source request

I recall seeing something like a left-wing analysis of the weirdnesses in the Hermitcraft diamond economy, I think it was a video essay but it might be an article. I'd like to see it again, but can't find it easily. Does anyone on here know what I'm talking about? Fedi seems like the perfect place to ask :)

Did a bit of digging. I found a basic economic analysis here: old.reddit.com/r/HermitCraft/c which I don't really agree with:
* it claims there is no wage system, yet it claims the economy is capitalist.
* it claims there are basically no negative externalities associated with production, yet afaict the players don't need to pay for claiming areas to build, or for the resources they extract, both actions definitely reducing the "value" available to others

@Vierkantor I think some seasons did require paying for land in the shopping district. land/resources elsewhere don't matter as much i guess, because the world is infinite, so infinite growth is less of an issue

re: source request

@f0x You're right, I didn't know that sometimes they paid for land, and I agree that land/resources are basically infinite.

I should have been clearer and said "conveniently accessible land/resources". I remember way back when on the Mindcrack server when Nebris mined all the glowstone available in the nether until many many miles away from spawn, that definitely was a negative externality.

(Also it really makes the point that minecraft is the world pro-capitalists think they live in, with abundant resources that can be infinitely accessed by just putting in the work.)
