@charlotte @AgathaSorceress reminds me of the time a friend let someone use their computer for a few hours, the borrower changed the keyboard layout for whatever accursed reason. then the lock screen came up, and neither could get it unlocked, especially because the friend had the password in muscle memory. i think in the end they ended up printing out two pictures of keyboard layouts and putting them on top of each other on a window to figure out the keys to press to enter the password.
