@ghost_bird Oof, that's going to be some hassle to replace. Any idea what it's doing - active farm work, or maybe part of some museum?

@porsupah Just a local monument - maintained by the parish council and open to visitors in the summer

@ghost_bird Ah! Hopefully all covered by insurance, then. Certainly would hope it'll be back in action before long - there's a quiet grandeur to windmills.

(By the same token, I love the sight of modern wind turbines as well - doing such good work, quietly, cleanly, and looking positively awe-inspiring into the bargain)

@ghost_bird @porsupah I can never understand why people call them eyesores unless they have sinister intentions. :blobnervous:

@Jo @ghost_bird Mmm. I still recall the then-local newspaper back in the Valleys carrying a headline about some campaign group stopping some extra turbines going up on a nearby ridgeline. All the usual "eyesore" stuff - the existing ones looked magnificent! They were congratulating each other on, what, continued dependency on gas?
