Question for server nerds:
I have a dell server tower I am setting up with proxmox. Mostly for homelab tinkering and NAS. Not really for an internet connected server.

Tower has 4 HDD bays and a separate ssd boot drive. The tower came with a fancy RAID controller card. (H200 I think).

I would like some drive redundancy and also happy to get some performance+. Instinct would be RAID10.

Should I use the raid controller, or plug the drives straight into the motherboard SATA and use ZFS?

@mart0 i think software raid is always the way to go, much less dependent on a particular piece of hardware
