I forgot how bad the default advent of code scoring system is?

challenges come out at like 4am my time how would I ever be first to solve
"these are all the US people on your leaderboard, they score higher (just built different I guess)"
oh 6am actually, and I tend to wake up at 10/11 if I can do so
it should really be the time between first opening your challenge and submitting the answer, if you're even doing time scoring at all
