System76 / FOSS shit

This System76 stuff is doing my head in now, their attitude is awful. They have the resources to develop a whole OS (Redox) so why do they feel the need to shit all over GNOME developers whos free labour has enabled them to build up a successful hardware business.
Like, just ship vanilla Ubuntu or Redox on your laptops, think about your users instead of all this FOSSbro politics shit and stop being so ungrateful and entitled trying to have your cake and eat it jeez

System76 / FOSS shit

Like if GNOME isn't a good fit for System76 then use KDE, or XFCE, or whatever instead of biting the hand that enabled them to capitalise on a niche in the hardware market without giving anything back (a real dick move). Who do they think wins from any of that nonsense anyway?

System76 / FOSS shit

Like KDE is generally a better fit for manufacturers that want to go hardcore with twisting existing technologies to their will in order to maximise profits with the least effort possible anyway, my impression is that it's designed from the ground up to give flexibility on that front out of the box and isn't that the whole point of Qt? They made a bad choice selecting inappropriate foundations for their house and now they're making it everyone else's problem grr

System76 / FOSS shit

If Lenovo are chill with just straight-up shipping Fedora on their laptops (10/10 idea!) and Dell with Ubuntu (10/10 idea!) what is it that makes System76 so special that they need their own OS? It's some real illusions of grandeur bullshit

System76 / FOSS shit

@Shrigglepuss or they don't believe in the market for their own hardware and are convinced they need a competetive edge in software too. Very unFOSS approach, imo.

System76 / FOSS shit

@zatnosk @Shrigglepuss afaik most of their hardware is just whitelabelled existing designs anyways, with rather poor build quality too
