this is why a reasonable system would not let packages self-update

see rather than every software bundling a self-updater we can factor out that functionality into a common App Store type of thing that centrally updates all the software at the same time, by simplifying the updates you reduce the chance for things to break

great idea right? wonder if anyone has made operating systems that do that...

@haskal as I literally can't tell what % serious this is, and in case anyone is interested: both Debian and Fedora have automatic unattended upgrade systems you can enable
