@elilla@queer.party @vy I've been using borg with borgmatic for a while now, it was relatively straightforward to get set up and works well backing up to both external storage/a friends server/space I rent at borgbase.com
they have a gui thingie (vorta?) too that might make things even easier but haven't tried it myself

@f0x @elilla Thanks for the tip! Borg seems to be working great so far, and with minimal setup.
It looks like the built-in Borg configuration that comes with NixOS effectively replaces borgmatic (using vanilla prune commands and systemd services), which is neat.
Borg is way better than rsync at deduplicating between snapshots.
