Folks, I've heard more than once that the retro resale market is finally cooling a bit, but I'm here to tell you that I just saw a "rare" AOL CD on eBay for US$995.99, and AOL 1.0 on a pair of 3.5" floppy disks for US$1,499.00.

You can even get an American Airlines-branded AOL CD packaged with a "fruit medley" snack for a mere US$1,250.00.

@PastaThief Sounds like someone has really unrealistic expectations!

@elfi I doubt it'll sell, but there are dozens of listings in the $1,000-and-up range for AOL media, and I feel like even if that opportunistic scammers don't move any of the product, it still drives the price for "realistic" listings up.

@PastaThief that is pretty absurd, yeah

God, and we used to joke about reshingling our roofs with the damned things

@elfi I just checked the completed listings, and nobody has gotten anywhere near that kind of money, but someone did manage to sell a Pizza Hut branded AOL CD for CA$130, which is over a hundred bucks US.

Follow

@PastaThief that's still silly but it's believably silly, even if it's in our canadian tire funbucks
