@schratze Part of this is certainly white ignorance, but also, fedi can be quite fragmented at times, so I feel like it can be easy for someone that's not targeted to outright not see any of the racism happening.

@flesh @schratze Indeed, often just looking at a toot on its original site will show an alarming amount of hate, and even if moderation on that server is very proactive, it will still be present in the sheer size of the suspended servers it records.
There is an alarming amount of racism, and even putting aside the whackamole of the most heinous servers, the current system just does not have us holding our peers accountable on otherwise decent servers, which results in hard decisions severing connections, and we need to work on that
