for context, i was talking about how i think more instances should have "opt-in" federation so that users' posts only federate to instances that the server admin trusts.
somehow they misinterpreted that to mean i'm advocating for everyone to be on the same instance... which... no?
and instead of seeking better understanding, they make fun of me and then state that because i'm on a mastodon instance that my opinion is invalid
