Didn't take my big cam, so just a bunch of phone pics :)

There's a lot of burned vegetation here, it looks like it was likely a controlled burn - the protea needs to burn every few years to thrive.

In the past I've walked up to just below the rock line on that mountain, but haven't gone higher. The view from up there is amazing.

It's called Helderberg Nature Reserve, in the Western Cape, South Africa.

The flower in the second shot is Cape Mountain Sage, I have it growing in the garden, it's an edible herb and it's lovely, like sage but a bit more lemony. It was growing everywhere in the reserve and the smell was amazing.

It was pretty cool seeing the black burned trunks agains the bright new growth. A lot of the new bushes are proteas that will grow to replace the burned ones.
