TIL over tightening machine screws is very easy to do and has disastrous consequences. I need to get some bolts for this project. #3dprinting

The machine screws have blunt ends so I thought they would just stop when they hit the PVC pipe. But no, they managed to go in at least a mm or two.

And the machine screws have a taper up to the head. I didn't realize that when I bought them. That taper acts like a wedge to split apart the layers of the 3d print.

@elfi oh there is. You can pack them in salt (to help hold the shape) then heat them up in an oven to anneal them. It removes layer lines, increases strength, and gives it a cool matte texture from the salt. I've never tried it but I probably will eventually.

@bunny_jane Oooooh! That does sound handy! But also like you'd need a proper stock pot and a LOT of salt, but at least you can reuse the latter :'D
