So ArenaNet says my Guild Wars account got compromised and they locked it without telling me so that's why I sat down for weekly game night and was locked out.

They insist my e-mail had to have been breached. I can demonstrably prove this is not true.

They won't tell me what they detected to lead them to this conclusion. Also all they require to unlock the account is for me to assert, via a channel they claim is compromised, that I changed my passwords.

This is.... awful security.

@elfi As a security engineer (as one of the many hats I wear anyway :P), it's a hell of a thing to experience.

@trysdyn Yeah, I don't dare claim to hold that kind of credentials, but I do hold common sense, which leads me to wonder what cognitive dissonance the IT managers pulled to push this setup...

@elfi "If we yeet people who are compromised, we stop making money off them", mostly. Security is a balancing act but when you throw customer monetization into the mix, you get stuff like uh... this.
