My first 3d print with wood pla! It's horns for @shoofle! I chose wood because I thought it would lend the horns a natural feel.

Wood PLA is just plastic with sawdust mixed in. But it still looks, smells, and feels like plain wood. You can even program the printer to create a fake wood grain by varying the temperature of the extruder nozzle.

@bunny_jane man, that fucking sucks. I wonder if there's a way to make extrusion more reliable, like a pressure-fed melting chamber or something...

@elfi ehhh it's already kind of doing that. My printer has a direct drive volcano style hot end. I think I just need to recalibrate it for the wood filament.

@elfi or maybe the filament spool had a kink in it. That's what it was last time I had under-extrusion issues.

@bunny_jane oooh! Okay, my engineering brain kind of gets away from me but not knowing about FDM printers means it's kind of solving already solved problems aaa
