Why am I just now learning that pewter is 1. not expensive at all and 2. has a low enough melting point that I could make my own pewter jewelry in my kitchen.

@bunny_jane I wonder if it's time for a return to classic pewter minis...

@elfi Pewter minis are so pretty. TBH maybe they should. So many people don't paint their minis.

💡Oh shoot I think I have an unpainted pewter mini I could melt down to make jewelery! Frith knows where it is tho. Kinda funny I had no idea it was pewter when I bought it but were other kinds of metal minis common in 2008?

@bunny_jane Ooh! I can't say for certain but I do recall there being different pewter alloys...

@elfi I looked it up last night and there are *a lot* of different pewter alloys with a lot of different melting points and a lot of them contain lead.

So it turns out that melting down old pewter is tricky because you don't know the melting point, and dangerous because it could contain lead.

@bunny_jane weh! Without a way to verify, that makes it kind of hard to reuse then, huh?

@elfi yeaaah

I'll just buy a fresh ingot if I want to do anything in pewter.
