#Glimpse won't start due to a missing GEGL dependency and it looks like I'll have to try updating it first. This is the first time I'm updating an #AUR package, here goes nothing I guess.

Hm an attempt to update Glimpse using makepkg gets me a fatal error, and Pacman doesn't recognize glimpse when I try to remove it 🤷‍♀️ no basic image editing for me unless I use the official package Glimpse forked from, I guess. Maybe I'll try yay.

All I want to do is make a terrible image edit but I don't have the chops to keep Glimpse working on my machine :blobcatcry: and I am never going near the Arch forum or reddit, those places are crawling with toxic assholes who think it's okay to insult and berate people for not knowing everything from the start.

Flatpak install also failed because of 404 errors 🙃 I hate everything

Aaand the official package of the original program Glimpse forked from installs and works without a problem, but I had to remove Glimpse to do it 🤷 I wonder if I can learn enough to take over the Glimpse package on the AUR?

@ljwrites Heyo, one of the Glimpse folks here. We generally don't support the Glimpse AUR package. It's a user created package we don't control.

We recommend either running Glimpse from Flatpak, Snap or AppImage.

@ljwrites You can find the AppImage here appimage.github.io/Glimpse-Ima, the Snap on the snap store and the Flatpak on Flathub

@Clipsey Thanks for the info, and for your work! Yeah, all AUR packages are use-at-your-own-risk so I don't think this is a Glimpse problem. The Flatpak version has been reported as working, after all.
