Paranoia mention, surveillance, literal ufo??, Minneapolis

@maemachinebroke@eldritch.cafe yeah, one red one green, but it seemed to be just hovering. I think that's pretty weird for something that isn't shaped like a helicopter?

I guess if it's aliens, they must be, what is it, FAA compliant?

Paranoia mention, surveillance, literal ufo??, Minneapolis

Saw some weird things in the air above Minneapolis tonight? Coming up 35 near downtown around 11:30. Looked like some small hovering plane. Weird shape, weird elevation. Maybe a surveillance thing? I don't get out much, so I dunno if this is new. Bright as hell with colored lights on the wings. I assume it was a surveillance drone, but that just seems so... I dunno.. Paranoid? But I can't think of what else it could be instead. I promise it was not venus, unless venus grew wide, far back wings, a stubby tail, and descended to, I dunno, 200 ft.

Anyways, it'd be rad to get a better idea of how common these are or what typical surveillance hardware looks like. Super weird to see from the interstate.

What do you think it was?

WIP, gaaaaaaaay

WIP, still need to do more work on the water. I think I might leave the text digital if I do prints. I'm so bad at lettering...

"x is beneficial to x group and should be widely implemented" and "x can (and has) been weaponized against BIPOC and there should be some kind of oversight and responsibility when implementing it" are not contradicting statements and i wish to god white people will understand this one day.

its also not a derailment of the conversation to bring up the risks imposed on BIPOC whenever anything becomes mandatory. like i know "intersectionality" has been worn to the bone by white feminists but this is actually the place for it. there's an intersection that white people just don't inhabit and therefore tend to be ignorant on but must still be part of the conversation.

re: Food, "Salad" page of 1969 Minnesota Church Cookbook, food scarcity, nutrition

@Ventronik @RussSharek @thegibson@hackers.town yeah, I'd hate to push him into something he doesn't want, but now I also just desperately want to know.

Russ, do you think those are indeed salads?

re: Food, "Salad" page of 1969 Minnesota Church Cookbook, food scarcity, nutrition

@RussSharek @thegibson@hackers.town @Ventronik I'd like to point out that this is from Minnesota in 1969. We didn't get good quality fresh produce in the winter until the late 80s, I heard. My mother would talk about looking forward to lemon and rasin sauce because she didn't really get tart foods in the winter very often.

Imagine trying to make a fruit salad, but you can't actually get any fruit that isn't canned because it can't get so far north without spoiling, so you make it work with packaged foods instead. That being said, my aunts have a recipe for cookie salad, so maybe the jury is still out. The core concept here is just a mixture of distinct things that taste good together, like a pasta salad, grain salad, etc. I'm not really defending jello carrot salads, but they do come out of a food system that is fundamentally different than the one we have now.

Also, this whole problem came out of trying to use a European food system in a region where really, the indigenous food system was balanced through the winter, but the European things were scarce.
