personal website, help/ideas wanted

I've been learning some HTML/JS/React and I'm really getting an urge to make my own website to play around with. Maybe I could do a little blog and share some ideas, code, projects, etc.

But I have no idea how to set that up. Where would I host it? Could I just plug a raspberry pi into an outlet and self host (if that is even a good idea)? Where would I best get a domain?

Any pointers and ideas are very much appreciated. Ideally everything would be low cost

@yog_sothoth I recommend the great service provided by the good folks over at @hallo who are running uberspace.de. they have everything to get you started with a website. if you want, you can add your own domain later and they host some other services like databases and mail too.

the alternative is to get a small virtual server at some provider (they'll probably want to see your governemnt id card), get your domain from a registrar like inwx.de, set up all the software yourself. that's more comples and expensive

you can also run a raspberry pi at home, but that will require some fiddling with dns and your home router to set up properly

if you want i can host a static website (html, css,js, no database, nothing like php) for you, but I usually don't have quick response times
