like the whole "i don't wanna hang around minors cuz i post lewd stuff most of the time" is understandable but what did 18 year olds do lol

honestly it's been really sobering to see a lot of furries who lived in families with controlling abusive parents later grow up to recycle Kids Online Safety Act talking points about how people under 18 shouldn't be allowed to use internet at all which is honestly asinine
if i wouldn't be allowed to use internet before i turned 18 i wouldn't realize that being queer is okay or being a furry is okay or that there are problems in the world that we need to solve
or that i wanna become an artist and a filmmaker
it's almost like all of these people think that everybody has a healthy nonbigoted family that respects their space and doesn't isolate them and it's naïve as hell
and there is a distinct line between like. sexual harassment towards minors and like. just talking to them on the internet outside of lewd contexts. or just letting them be on the internet. like tell me if i am wrong but people are so worked up over this i find it weird
if i said something wrong or didn't understand correctly tell me. i will own up. otherwise, i said what i said
also, just thought of this: maybe it would be better instead to teach minors how to protect themselves from predators and how to interact on the internet with respect and dignity instead of barring them left and right. it's much more productive imho

@mynameistillian Yes, but also: teach *adults* how to reliably recognize problematic power dynamics and behaviours from other adults.
This shouldn't just be the responsibility of minors, and an embarrassing amount of predatory behaviour takes place publicly, just nobody realized the issue.
And often I can't help but feel that it gets missed so easily because it doesn't look so different from predatory behaviour targeting other adults, which for some reason is entirely socially acceptable in many places.
