When the right and the centrists tell you voting for them is the only way of stopping the rise of fascism, do not believe them. The centrist approach to fighting fascism is to pander to fascist voters by adopting positions increasingly close to the fascism they’re try to fight. Not only is the end result more fascism but this also normalizes it, laying the groundwork for a fascist landslide like we saw in The Netherlands today.
Vote for people on the actual left, who see fascism for what is.

Feeling very 2016 as today is our 24th of june 2016 and our 9th of november 2016 all rolled into one. Both disastrous results are 7 years ago and haven’t turned out great. You’d think we wouldn’t make the same mistake. But we did and now we have to go through the same pain we saw the folks in America and Britain go through. De belangrijkste conclusie van vanavond is m.i. dat de verschillen tussen rechtse en extreemrechtse partijen in dit land (PVV, VVD, FvD, JA21, CDA, BBB) wat hun electoraat betreft helemaal niet zo groot zijn. En misschien is dat ook terecht, want ze voerden en/of bepleitten allemáál racistisch beleid.
Dat de PVV nu zo significant wint is een klap in het gezicht van moslims, mensen van kleur, LHBTI'ers en andere gemarginaliseerde groepen. Racisme, homo- en transfobie en misogynie worden explicieter en dat ís bedreigend. Maar we moeten niet doen alsof het nieuw is, want dat is het helaas niet.

Beste mensen,
De fascisten van de PVV hebben de verkiezingen gewonnen. Nu dreigt een kabinet-Wilders. Een racistisch kabinet dat mensen uitsluit op basis van herkomst en religie. Een kabinet dat asociaal beleid combineert met verwaarlozing van milieu en klimaat. Een levensgevaarlijk kabinet. Dit laten we niet zomaar gebeuren.
Geen Wilders-kabinet! Geen fascisten in de regering!

Is er behalve Indymedia eigenlijk ergens een 'evenementenkalender' voor linkse dingen? Daarbij denk ik niet alleen aan demonstraties en filmavonden, maar ook bijv. concerten bij kraakpanden / anarchistische hangouts, en oproepen van bijvoorbeeld weggeefwinkels of andere initiatieven die vrijwilligers zoeken.
Dus zeg maar een soort van one-stop-shop voor mensen die graag bij de beweging betrokken willen raken, en een manier zoeken die bij hen past.

De ene helft van mijn frustratie is dat er zo extreem op rechts gestemd is.
De andere helft van mijn frustratie zijn al de verbaasde reacties dat het zover heeft kunnen komen - iets waarvoor we al jarenlang waarschuwen, zonder ooit serieus genomen te worden, want "zo'n vaart zal het niet lopen" en "we hebben hier een goed functionerend democratie".
Nu blij? Gaat iedereen de waarschuwingen nu wél serieus nemen, of gaan we er weer vanuit dat het niet verder zal gaan dan dit, en het 'vanzelf' wel weer goed zal komen bij de volgende verkiezingen?
